Define Part Cost Group

Explanation

This activity is used to maintain and view the part cost groups that may be used within the system, assign the part cost group to a cost template, and connect inventory parts to the group. This optional task is to be performed by a system administrator or an equivalent person.

A part cost group is used to group parts whose costs are calculated using the same cost templates, buckets, and elements. Grouping parts allows you to make major, simultaneous changes to the cost structure of the selected parts. Any changes to the part cost group also affect the connected parts. The group and cost set can be changed in the Override Template/Cost Set tab of the Part Cost Group page.

Prerequisites

This activity has the following prerequisites:

• The site must exist in the system.
• Cost templates must exist in the system.
• Inventory parts must be defined.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• Major changes can be simultaneously made to all parts in the cost group.
• A part cost group is created to which you must assign parts, either in the Part Cost Group/Group Contents page or in the  Inventory Part/Main page.
• Any changes to the part cost group also affect the connected parts.
