Describe Product Functions

This process consists of registering and describing the product model functions. You use functions to view your product structure from a functional point of view.

Description of process

All functions for the model should be registered in the system. The basis of the registration is the functional description. The registering consists of the following steps:

Step 1: If the function does not exist, register the function.

The registration consists of defining the following parameters in PDM/Basic Data/Functions:

1. Function number
2. Description of function
3. Extra information if needed

Step 2: If the product does not exist, create the product.

Step 3: If the product model does not exist, create the model.

Step 4: Copy or connect the functions.

• You can copy all functions from a product model to another product model.
• After a function is registered, you can connect it to a model. Use Product Functions and the New functionality. Select product, model, and function, then save. You have now connected the function to a specific model.

Step 5: Enter product model function characteristics.

Step 6: Create a product model function structure.
