The Person ID represents a personal identification of a person, which is not company dependent. The identity is unique to each person managed in the system. The person ID is used to enter employee information that remain the same, regardless of their employee number. Personal data such as name, home address, gender, and date of birth are examples of data connected to the person ID, and not to the employee number. The person ID not only avoids duplication of information, it also helps us track information of several employments held by the same person. When calculating the employment time within the group, the person ID is the pointer to all the employee numbers connected to one and the same person.
In most countries, you can find a unique identification for each citizen. From an HR point of view, this may be tempting to use for the Person ID field. However, the person ID is utilized in other IFS Cloud components, and therefore should be carefully considered and coordinated.
The Employee/Personal page holds the Insurance ID field, which is used for country specific identifications. In Sweden Person-nummer, in the US Social Security Number, etc.
In the Enterprise Identities Series page in the Enterprise component, the person ID can be set up as a sequence number. This means, the next available number will be automatically suggested when you enter a new employee with no history in the IFS.
