In such scenario can a generic item be useful to distinguish the cost and describe the details around it. Only additional costs can be defined for a generic item. It is possible to add any item type as sub-item of a generic item.

To create and add a generic top item to the tree structure of an estimate, click Add Item in the Top Items section. From the tree structure of an item, click Item, then Add Item. Then select an item type that is connected to the reference item type Generic. Enter an Item name and description. If it is a top item then it is also mandatory to enter a version quantity and unit of measure.

For sub-items is always the quantity set to one and the unit of measure is equal to the first parent item in the tree structure which isn’t generic, If there are only generic parent items in the tree structure then is the unit of measure equal to the unit of measure set for the top item.
