Request to Defer Fault
Explanation
You can defer an open fault from the current work package. You can defer
a fault from the Task Details page and
additionally the My Work
page if the task has been assigned to you.
To defer a fault, you begin by selecting a deferral reference. You can
then review decision support information about the deferral including any operational restrictions and performance
penalties that apply to deferral of the fault, other open conflicting deferrals for the
aircraft, and upcoming flights for the aircraft. Based on this information,
you can decide whether to proceed with
the deferral.
If the
deferral reference used requires authorization from Maintenance Operations Control
(MOC) before the fault can be deferred, an authorization request is sent to MOC when you establish a connection.
Prerequisites
- A connection is required to perform this online activity.
- The fault status must be Open.
- Deferral related basic data must have been migrated and synced from your primary
M&E system.
- If your primary M&E system is IFS Maintenix,
the DEFER_ON_APPROVAL configuration parameter must
be set to FALSE so that an approved deferral request is reflected in
your mobile device and you can defer the fault thereafter.
System Effects
- The Deferral Request Status on the Task
Details page is Requested.
- If your primary M&E system is IFS Maintenix, a
reference authorization request is created and displayed on the Pending Reference
Approvals list.
- After the review by MOC, on establishing a connection, the
deferral request will be synced to your mobile device and the
Deferral Request Status is updated to Approved
or Rejected based on MOC action.
