Define a Modification Revision

Explanation

This activity is used to define a modification revision. A modification can arise as a result of new technology, safety demands and/or quality demands specified by the manufacturer or due to repeated errors and damages. A modification can lead to the generation of a maintenance event that will be executed within a certain time limit on the given serial(s). You can also use a modification to control one-time event types that are to be executed on the selected serial(s).

If the modification leads to changed functionality, serials and serial structures can have different revisions on the documentation during the period of time the modification program is carried out. Therefore, modifications have a close association with revision handling on parts, template structures, serials and serials structures with related documentation.

Modifications can be defined in the Define Modification page or the Modifications page. Subsequent revisions must be created by using the New Modification Revision assistant.

Following is a description of some of the information that can be entered when defining a modification:

Documents can be connected to a modification by using the functionality in Attachments. When a modification is deleted, the connection to the document will be removed. If there is a need to delete the document itself, this must be done manually using IFS/Document Management.

New Modification Revision

The New Modification Revision assistant can be used to create a new revision of a modification and copy certain information to it.

The additional information entered in the assistant, will be transferred to the Mx Event Remark field of the corresponding maintenance events. The Keep Perform Mod Definitions option should be enabled if the serial assignment (Perform Modification field settings for the modification assigned serials) should be copied to the new revision, provided the modification category is the same for the old and new revision.

Only one revision of a modification can be active at any given point in time. When the new modification revision is set to the Active status the currently active modification revision will be set obsolete. A warning message will appear when the new modification revision is to be set active and you have the option of canceling the operation.
