Quality Assurance in Inventory

The quality assurance functionality within IFS/Inventory is very flexible. It is used in order to be able to examine goods already in stock. When the parts are in a quality assurance location, they can be considered not available, depending on how you set up the availability controls.

By using the availability control, you define how the parts should be handled within the application. Availability control allows you to control how the supply code, reservations, and order issues should be handled. Since there are several parameters to control, you can have different setups for different types of parts.

To use the quality assurance within IFS/Inventory, you should define one or more location groups, to which you connect your quality assurance locations. They can, for example, be a picking location type. To control how the parts at these locations should be handled, the availability controls should be used.

When moving parts to and from your quality assurance locations, you can assign different availability controls. These availability controls will determine whether or not the part should be considered available or not, and to what level you will be able to reserve the parts. Since you have the ability to control both automatic and manual reservations, you can establish that certain parts, for example, can be reserved manually but not automatically. You can of course also have parts which you cannot reserve at all.
