Create Shop Order from Chart
Explanation
Use this activity to create a new shop order for the part record selected
in a chart. The shop order will be backward scheduled. The start date is equal
to the need date minus the total manufacture time.
To perform this activity select one or more demand segment(s) in the
Inventory Part Availability Planning chart and click
New Shop Order.
- The sum of the demands for the selected segment(s) appears by default
in the Supply Quantity field, but can be manually changed.
- The earliest due date from the selected demand(s) appears by default
in the Due Date field, but can be manually changed.
Prerequisites
- The part must not be configured.
- The part must not be connected to a project.
- The Part Type list should be set to either Manufactured
or Manufactured Recipe on the Inventory Part
page.
- A Part Revision must exist for the part on the date start date.
- For the system to automatically create allocations, the part must have
a buildable structure.
- If a routing is used, it must be in the Buildable state. The
system cannot reserve, issue to, or receive an order if there are no allocations
on it.
System Effects
As a result of this activity the system creates a new shop order for the
selected part. When this happens, the system creates material requirements and
schedules operations. It retrieves operations and structures according to the
part, structure revision and alternative, and routing revision and alternative
that you entered.
The shop order will be created with Revision/Alternate
valid for the given supply date and the lot size entered.
