This activity is used to choose one or several alternate components to replace the main component of the material line with. You can also specify the quantity for each alternate component. Typically this is done when there is a shortage of the main component. This activity is beneficial to companies using components with similar specifications, produced by different manufacturers, or when phasing out a component part.
To perform this activity from:
A shop order component with at least one valid alternate component having sufficient quantity must exist.
As a result of this activity, the main component is replaced with the quantity of the alternate component(s) as specified in the dialog box.
Note: The scrap component values on the alternate component will be fetched from its inventory part record rather than from the part it replaces.
