Calculate Lead Time for Routing

Explanation

This activity is used to calculate a part’s manufacturing lead time. The manufacturing lead time is calculated from the default routing and lot size of the part. It considers the setup, move, operation times, and the efficiency factor entered for the operation. The total lead time will be reduced to reflect the operation overlapping if the overlap value is defined for the routing.

Use the Calculate Lead Time action from the Routing page to calculate the manufacturing lead time for the part that is specified in the header portion of the Routing page. This is calculated from the operation list and default lot size of the part. This considers the setup, move, and operation times, as well as the overlap and the efficiency factor entered for the operation. The system also considers information about the queue time and shifts, i.e., the number of work hours per day from the work center where the operation is performed. Lead time is calculated on three different selected options such as Machine Time Only, Labor Time Only and Maximum Time Of Machine or Labor. It is possible to select one from these options and based on the selected option the lead time will get calculated. The calculation runs in the background, allowing you to continue working with the system as usual. The results of the lead time calculation are filled in the fields in Inventory Part/Manufacturing and in Inventory Part/Acquisition. The calculation separates the lead times into fixed and variable lead times by day and by hour. The times are displayed independent of lot size.
