You can copy the maintenance structure (assembly, disassembly and disposition structure data) from one revision of a position part to another. This is useful when the user has previously transferred a new revision of a service structure into manufacturing from VIM, and does not wish to manually recreate all of the maintenance data previously defined on an older revision of that structure in manufacturing. Maintenance levels are defined for parts and revisions, and each maintenance level can point to some or all of the components of the monolithic structure of that part and revision.
A maintenance level structure must exist.
The copy process will bring over the maintenance level definitions as
they existed on an earlier revision, and will copy any additional components
that may have been manually added to the maintenance structure in
manufacturing on that earlier revision.
The copy process works
through a multi-level structure, which means the process will navigate
through the components and copy their components, all the way through the
multi-level structure until it no longer can find component records. The
size of this structure is totally dependent on the number of levels
involved.
