Create Standard Operation

Explanation

This activity is used to create standard operations. You can also use this activity to associate tools and work guidelines with standard operations.

Use the Standard Operation page for this activity. Creating a standard operation allows you to define a commonly used operation once and then copy or reference it in routings and routing templates. Standard operation is site specific as it uses data elements such as Work Center, Labor Class and Tools that are site specific. Only the standard operations defined for the same site as routing can be copied or referenced. If you reference a standard operation in routings or routing templates, you are prompted by the system whenever you change the standard operation as to how you want the changes to be implemented. You will not be prompted regarding propagation for copied instances of the standard operation.

For outside work center operations, you can either select the Outside Operation Backflush type or the Outside Operation Supply type. The default value for the backflush option is obtained from the work center. If an outside operation item has not been entered for the outside operation, a message will appear. However, you have the option of creating a new outside operation item.

Use the Routing where Used tab & the Routing templates where Used tab on the Standard Operation page to view and maintain the routings & the routing templates using the Standard Operation.

Prerequisites

A work center must be defined in the Work Center page. If you work with labor operations, labor classes must be defined in the Manufacturing Labor Class page.

System Effects

This action creates a new standard operation. This standard operation can now be used to create routing template operations and routing operations.
