Define FMEA Functions

Explanation

This activity is used to create one or more FMEA functions for the selected structure or routing alternate. A FMEA function created for a structure is called a design FMEA function and is an intended purpose of a part. A function created for a routing is called a process FMEA function and is an intended purpose of a manufacturing process.

To create one or more functions for a structure or routing alternate, first open the Design FMEA or Process FMEA page, expand the record for the part the specific alternate belongs to in the record selector by clicking Expand and open the FMEA level for the specific alternate. Then, click the new command on the Functions tab, enter data about the function and click Save. It is possible both to create a new function or to select an already existing function by choosing an item in the list of values (LOV) picker in the Function field.

To create a new function without connection to any structure or alternate, open the FMEA Functions page, click the new command, enter data about the function and click Save.
