Manual Edit of Cost Lines and Sales Lines

Explanation

This activity is used to edit cost lines and sales lines on a complex assembly work order. Cost and sales line information can be viewed by selecting a position part in the structure navigator in the Complex Assembly Work Order page, and then clicking on either the Cost Lines tab or the Sales Lines tab.

Cost lines and sales lines can be viewed for a position part only or for the child positions as well. Enable the Aggregate option to view details for child positions as well. When this option is enabled, the amounts will be summarized including everything below the selected position part.

Cost Lines

Cost lines are generated when a complex assembly service contract is applied on a complex assembly work order. Cost line may also be generated when splitting costs. Cost line records are categorized according to the position part, cost type, and work scope.

Click History Lines to view the transaction history for a cost line.

Sales Lines

Sales lines can be created manually on the work order or generated automatically when a complex assembly service contract is applied. Sales line records are categorized according to the position part, cost type, and work scope.

Following options may be used to edit sales lines:

To change the status of a sales line click Make Invoiceable or Make Not Invoiceable.
To remove a sales line click Remove Sales Line. This will remove the sales line and the connection to the cost line.
To split a cost line which is connected to a sales line click Split Costs.

Note: To remove all sales lines from the complex assembly work order, click on Remove All Sales Lines from the header of the Complex Assembly Work Order page. This will remove the sales lines, cost lines connected to the sales lines, and the connection between transactions and cost line. To regenerate sales lines, the complex assembly service contract must be re-applied on the work order.

Split Costs

To be able to split a cost line, there must be a one-to-one relationship between the cost line and sales line.

To split costs:

Duplicate or create a new cost line in the dialog.
Add or change the cost type, position part and/or maintenance level.
Split the quantity spent/hours utilized. The split quantity must be equal to the original quantity.
Split the cost amount. The split cost amount must be equal to the original cost amount.

Prerequisites

Cost lines must have been generated for the complex assembly work order.
Sales lines must have been generated or entered manually on the complex assembly work order.
There should not be any transferred sales lines.

System Effects

Cost lines and sales lines for the MRO shop visit are analyzed and updated as required.
If a cost line is split, the corresponding sales line is removed from the Sales Lines tab and the existing cost line will be replaced with the split cost lines. These cost lines can be viewed in the Cost Lines tab.
