Access can be delegated to substitutes using Role
Delegation or Delegate Roles assistant.
Rights have to be delegated if you want someone to
perform duties that require access rights. Usually you should delegate your
access when you will be absent from work, going on a business trip, or doing
anything else that would prevent you from attending to your
responsibilities. Depending on the settings selected you will be able to
delegate all of your access rights, or just what is necessary to complete a
given task ,e.g., approval of work time, absences or travel expenses.
Full access will allow you to delegate every access right that the you have to the substitute. Partial access allows you to delegate only a portion of your access. No access gives you an option of merely assigning a formal substitute that is supposed to perform your duties.
Role Delegation
Use Role Delegation to view and manage substitutes authorized to take over duties of a supervisor. When appointed, substitutes will receive all necessary access rights to perform supervisor's tasks (e.g. authorizations). Not all of supervisor's access rights have to be assigned and you have the option to grant partial access. This page is intended to be used by supervisors themselves to administer only their own access. It provides the flexibility not only to assign substitutes during their absence, but possibly to delegate their own access when necessary.
You can find useful links to Delegate Roles assistant and Available Access. Available Access allows you to view information about access rights of supervisors. The Person Information data section shows the currently selected supervisor. The Current Access Setup data section shows supervisor's access definition. Supervision rights come from assignment to an organization unit with a supervising access role or a supervising position. In both cases access is given to employees who belong to the organization unit (and possibly subordinate units). Furthermore, access can be narrowed to specific positions or types of data, all depending on the access setup.
Delegate Roles
Use this assistant to delegate access to a substitute. If you select the Mode as Standard, full access will be granted to the substitute. If you select Advanced, you will be able to indicate if the Authority To Be Granted should be Full Access, Partial Access, or No Access in the later part of the assistant.
