Define Production Line Operating Parameters
Explanation
Production line operating parameters are needed for production line
management. The parameters are as follows:
- Daily Operating Minutes: This figure is used as the input for
takt time calculations. You can enter this value manually, or retrieve
the average daily run minutes from the production line calendar, for a
sample date range.
- Default Schedule Horizon: This is used as the basis for
calculating default schedule date ranges when retrieving demands or
calculating proposed schedules. The Firm and Schedule horizons are used
to calculate a date range to be used in the features.
- Line Load Method: This is the default method that will be
used when running the scheduling feature or when the schedules are
loaded directly from the customer order demands. You should select one
of scheduling logics to be used when loading the line. The available
options are:
- Load Infinite - schedule to exactly meet demand.
- Backward up to line rate - backward schedule using line rate as
capacity limit.
- Forward up to line rate - forward schedule using line rate as
capacity limit.
To calculate the daily operating minutes, click Takt Time,
then Calculate Operation Minutes from Calendar.
You can set the Default Schedule Horizon and the
Line Load Method in the header.
Prerequisites
- A production line must have been created.
- A schedule horizon must have been defined.
System Effects
- Operating minutes will be used only for the takt time calculation as
an input, but will be stored with the production line.
- The default schedule horizon will be used as the basis for the
default date range calculations when retrieving the line demand,
generating proposed schedules, or copying proposed schedules to the
actual schedule. If a default schedule horizon is not defined, the date
ranges must be entered manually in each of the activities.
