Master Data Synchronization

Explanation

This activity is to create/edit synchronization for master data. Master data in IFS/Project are companies, programs, calendars, resources and activity classes. In order to be able to import or export projects with master data to/from Primavera it is necessary to have the master data already existing on the receiving side. This can be done by importing or exporting the master data separately, or by entering the master data manually. Note that only activity classes can be exported from Primavera to IFS.

Sample synchronizations for import master data are created and saved in Primavera Gateway Synchronizations and can be reused any number of times to perform a master data analysis, or to initiate a master data synchronization.

It is possible to review business objects details before synchronizing data to Primavera. Executing review functionality is a recommended part of the process of synchronizing data. While the review is optional, but recommended, the synchronization can also be run without it by using the Run command.

Synchronization Messages will give information about data that may need to be rectified for a successful synchronization. If master data import results exception type synchronization message, master data must be rectified accordingly in IFS. Continue to the activity Analyze Synchronization Messages to get more detailed assistance on how to rectify problems.

It is optional to act on the warnings type of synchronization messages. Synchronizing data between IFS/Project and Primavera is described in detail in Sharing Project Data using Primavera Gateway.
