Create Work Order for Design Object

Explanation

This activity is used to create a work order for a design object. Work orders can be created for assembly, testing, decommissioning, and dismantling purposes and therefore can be created at any point, after the creation of a design object. For example a pipe system with several fabricated assembly parts or spools, might require the assembly of the spools on the exact location of the plant/facility. Hence a work order is required for the assembly parent, and each spool should be defined as a material requirement of the work order.

This activity can be performed on Design Object Work Preparation page by accessing Create Work Order command. When a work order is created for a design object, it is required to enter mandatory information such as the maintenance organization and work order directive required to register the work order. Optionally, it is possible to select a task template, in order to predefine the additional material and resources needed to carry out the work. If the design object, for which the work order is being created, has additional parts, an assembly structure and/or task template defined, the additional parts, objects in the assembly structure, and materials defined for the task template, will be inherited as material demand for the work order. If a valid project connection exists, the created work order will always be project connected. Based on the project connected to the design object, the Planned Start and Planned Completion Dates of the work order will be set to the Early Start and Finish Dates of the connected activity respectively.

One or more than one design objects can also be selected for creating work orders resulting in multiple work orders, one for each of the selected design objects.
