The process for defining NATO Codification Standards is as follows:
This sub-process is used to enter basic data for NATO Codification Standards. The defined basic data is required to create both NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) and NATO Commercial and Government Entities (NCAGE).
Countries that participate in the NATO Codification System (NCS) follow common standards and techniques to assign NATO Stock Numbers (NSN) to items of supply in their defense inventory. This sub-process contains the definition of NATO Stock Numbers, connecting NATO Stock Numbers to parts in IFS/Part Catalog, and maintaining the NSNs.
For more information refer to NATO Stock Numbers.
The NATO Commercial and Government Entity (NCAGE) uniquely identifies each manufacturer in NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Note: In some cases the NCAGE itself is not unique worldwide, but also requires a country code to be unique.
For more information refer to NATO Commercial and Government Entities.
