Create Product Model Function Structure
Explanation
Use this activity to create, modify, and view a function
structure for a specific model. Documents and Engineering parts can be connected to any function
anywhere in the structure. The function structure can be designed and parts
can be connected before the model has been designed. The only requirement is
that the model have a top part connected. The system will make sure that there
is a consistency between the function structure and the product structure.
Prerequisites
- The model must have a top part.
- The functions must be connected to the model.
- All functions are unique. Two identical functions cannot exist in the
structure. The system will prevent this.
- When the top part is released, new parts, not present in the product
structure, cannot be added.
System Effects
- The functions are organized in a structure.
- Engineering parts and documents can be connected to the functions at
any level.
- When a part is connected to the function structure and it is not present
in the belonging product structure, the part will automatically be added
to the model. In this way, there will always be a consistency
between the function structure and the product structure. In addition, when
a unique part is removed from the model, the connection to the part from
the function structure will also be removed. The result is that parts in
the product structure may not be present in the function structure, but
parts in the function structure will always be present in the product structure.
