You can associate spare parts with an equipment object. Spare parts are not actually part of the equipment structure, but are linked via a cross-reference to IFS/Inventory for direct access to current information about part balances, prices, suppliers, etc. An object part list is an effective document to use when planning material for a PM (Preventive Maintenance) action or a work order.
You can add physical spare parts or a detached spare part list to an object's spare part list. The parts you can enter here are registered inventory and purchase parts. You can update the object spare part list whenever necessary. For inventory parts, the inventory unit is displayed. On the other hand, the purchase unit for the primary supplier is displayed for purchase parts.
A detached spare part list is a general name for a spare part kit which contains various spare parts needed for a certain serial object. The spare part kit can contain all the spare parts included in an object, as well as those spare parts and other items most often required for a specific repair job. A detached spare part list can also be used as a fictitious ID for free definition. For instance, using a detached spare part list makes it easier to implement changes of parts, and to specify identical or similar spare parts for several objects. You can copy a spare parts list into a new object.
In order to create a detached spare part list, first you need to create a detached part header as a regular inventory part with its own part number. You register a detached part header in the Inventory module in the same way as you register other inventory parts. Then you can connect inventory or purchased parts to the detached part header. You can also connect other spare part lists to the list, or copy an existing detached spare part list while creating a new one.
