Perform Rename of Serials
Explanation
This activity is used to rename one or several serials when working on a
work order created for a modification event leading to a part identity change.
The activity can be performed several times until all serials have been renamed.
You can also indicate if a rename should not be performed for a specific serial
or you can reverse a rename which has been incorrectly performed.
To perform this activity, select the option Perform Rename of Serials
from the Execute Work Task page to open the
Perform Rename of Serials dialog.
- Enable the option Perform Rename if the serial should
be renamed. This option cannot be enabled if the Renamed Performed
option is already enabled.
- Enable the Undo Rename option if the rename was done
by mistake and needs to be reversed. This option can only be enabled if
the Renamed Performed option is enabled.
- Enable the No Rename Needed option if the serial should
not be renamed after modification compliance. This option cannot be enabled
if the Perform Rename or the Rename Performed
option is already enabled.
- The Rename Performed option indicates if the serial
has already been renamed. This option cannot be manually updated.
Prerequisites
A work order with work tasks connected to a rename modification event must
exist.
System Effects
- If the option to perform the rename is selected, the part number of
the serial will be changed.
- If the no rename needed option is selected, the serial will not be renamed
when the modification event is finished.
- If the undo rename option is selected, the serial will be reversed back
to its origin defined on the modification.
- Remaining serials that have not been renamed through this activity,
will be renamed when the modification event is finished.
