Fault deferral rules are used to defer non-critical faults. The set of rules manages what kind of faults that can be deferred and on what type of material. A fault can be deferred in a combination of operational interval and calendar, and requires approval before it becomes effective.
There are two types of deferrals: simple and complex. The simple deferral definition has no maximum delay defined, and can be used for all part revisions or functions. The maximum deferral delay is then specified for each fault. The complex deferral definition requires different deferral items to be defined with a maximum delay, and each deferral item must be associated with the part revision for which it is valid.
