This activity is used to assign the serial parts for which the maintenance program is applicable.
If access control is established, you must have access to the maintenance program before you can assign parts to the maintenance program. To establish access control, access groups must be defined in basic data, and the preferred users must be connected to the access group. All users that are members of an access group, will have access to the serials and maintenance programs defined for the selected access group. For more information on enabling access control for maintenance programs, refer the activity Enter or Modify an Access Group for a Maintenance Program.
Parts can be assigned in the Define Maintenance Program/Assign Parts tab. The part number, manufacturer of the part, and the manufacturer's part identity can be entered. If the part number of the serial part is not known, you can directly enter the manufacturer information (the manufacturer and manufacturer's identity or directly enter the manufacturer's identity). The part number will be retrieved automatically based on the given manufacturer information.
You can also assign serial parts to the maintenance program by copying parts from a template structure. To do this, select the part that was manually assigned to the maintenance program in the Assign Parts tab, and then click Copy Parts from Template Structure. You can choose to copy all parts in the selected template structure, all parts and alternates, or only the template parts.
When parts are copied from a templates structure, parts that are not required for the maintenance program may be copied as well. One way to remove such parts is to perform the Remove Part and Structure option. Enter the template information in the dialog that opens. All parts below in the structure of the selected template will be removed from the maintenance program.
The Parts Assigned to Maintenance Programs page can be used to get an overview of all parts assigned to a maintenance program.
