This activity is used to assign repair codes to affected parts whilst planning the modification.
The connection between modification and repair code is required in IFS/Complex Assembly MRO to create the allocations and operations needed to perform the modification. Repair codes can vary from one affected part to another and also depending on the modification execution type.
Repair codes can be assigned to the modification from the Modification Details/Assign Repair Codes tab. To assign repair codes you first need to specify the required site. This can be done manually or by clicking the Fetch Valid Sites command. The list of sites will display all the sites to which the assigned part revision has been transferred, even sites to which you are not allowed. However, when assigning repair codes you will only be allowed to work with user-allowed sites. Once the site is retrieved, you can enter the required combination of affected part, repair code, and execution type.
Another option when assigning repair codes is to copy information from one transfer site to another. This is useful when the definition of parts and repair codes is similar between sites, e.g., part ALS is connected to repair codes R1 and R2 at sites 1 and 2. Instead of setting up data twice on the modification, you can use the Copy Repair Codes option to copy between sites.
It is optional to assign repair codes at this stage. The functionality is similar to assigning repair codes in the Modification Repair Codes page. The only difference is that here you are able to assign repair codes as part of setting up the modification, instead of after the modification is transferred to manufacturing. If data exists in this tab, it will be transferred when transferring the modification, i.e., at modification activation. Once the modification is activated, any updates to repair codes must be entered directly in the Modification Repair Codes page. These updates will not be reflected in the Assign Repair Codes tab. Therefore, the data you see in this tab may differ from the data in the Modification Repair Codes page for the modification.
Once the modification is activated, you can navigate to the Modification Repair Code page for user-allowed sites by clicking Modification Repair in the Assign Repair Codes tab.
