Connect Part Revision to an Item Code

Explanation

This activity is used to connect a part revision to a deferral item code. The connection defines the maximum allowed deferral period for a given part revision. Item codes can be connected to a part revision in the Deferral Definition/Revisions per Item tab and the Serial Part Revision/Deferral Definitions tab.

If the item code is also listed on the Functions per Item tab, the item code can be used only when the fault is reported with a reference to that function number.

Note: Most failures (faults) are a result of excess usage. To be able to report and trace faults connected to shop work, you should make a connection to the appropriate deferral lists for the actual serial parts.

Prerequisites

• A valid part revision must exist.
• The deferral item code must have been defined. For more information, refer the activity Define Item Code.
• If you select an item code with the maximum delay specified operational parameters, the operational parameter is required to be defined for the part in the Serial Part/Operational Parameters tab.

System Effects

• Deferral functions per item can be defined.
• The fault deferral can be defined on faults reported for the applicable part revisions. If function per items are defined the fault deferral can be defined on faults reported for the applicable part revision and function.
