This activity is used to create a maintenance plan for preventive maintenance activities (represented by maintenance codes) which need to be scheduled on a specific frequency against a serial part.
Maintenance plans are connected to maintenance programs. A maintenance program contains the serial parts, part revisions, and maintenance groups that are applicable for a maintenance plan. After entering the valid combination of serial parts and maintenance groups, a maintenance plan can be defined. All changes to a maintenance plan are logged as part of the change history.
The maintenance plan provides capability to define the frequency and recurrence of maintenance activities. The interval for the activities could either be based on a single operational parameter, a calendar interval, a combination of an operational parameter and a calendar interval, or a combination of an operational parameter along with other applicable operational parameters and/or a calendar interval.
Depending on where the Maintenance Plan page is opened, information will be populated differently:
When you create a new maintenance plan, you can copy the maintenance plan from another maintenance group within the maintenance program and then make the necessary changes. To do this click Copy Maintenance Plan in the Maintenance Plan page. The maintenance program must be in the Preliminary status. This feature is useful when you want to make copying of similar maintenance plan information easier, between two different maintenance groups. The maintenance group to which you want to copy the information cannot have interval maintenance already defined for it.
The table below describes the information that can be entered when defining interval maintenance in the Maintenance Plan/Intervals tab. In the Intervals per Maint Code list, you can define the intervals for the primary releasing operational parameter. In the Secondary Operational Parameter Intervals list, you can define the intervals for secondary releasing operational parameters. The interval that gives the earliest due (out of calendar, primary releasing operational parameter, and secondary releasing operational parameters) are presented. The primary releasing operation parameter does not have to be used if a maintenance interval is not specified. Revisions are logged for the maintenance plan. Any changes made to the intervals are logged as standard history.

Maintenance Code | The preferred maintenance code representing the preventive maintenance action that is to be performed. |
Preceding Maintenance Code | To define phased inspections, the maintenance code that is to be executed prior to the given maintenance code must be entered in this field. The preceding maintenance code must be a maintenance code already present in the plan and must have the Phased Inspection calculation rule. |
Phased Inspection Start | This option should be enabled if the maintenance code is the starting point of a sequence or cycle of phased inspections. |
Parent Maintenance Code | The maintenance code and the interval of the record in the maintenance plan on which the selected maintenance code is dependent. The value in this field determines whether the selected maintenance code should be regarded as performed when the parent maintenance code is performed. |
Maintenance Interval | The preferred maintenance interval for the primary operational parameter or secondary operational parameter(s). |
Calendar Interval/Unit | The preferred calendar interval in calendar units for the primary operational parameter. |
Recurring Calculation | This option should be enabled if the maintenance code is to be calculated at recurring intervals. The recurring interval and/or calendar interval and unit of measure must be entered when this option is enabled. If recurring calculation is enabled for the primary operational parameter, recurring intervals must be specified for any secondary operational parameters as well. |
Use Tolerance | This option should be enabled if tolerances are to be used for the given maintenance code. When this option is enabled, specify the lower and upper tolerance limits. Also, enable the Adjust Above Upper Tolerance option if needed. |
Calendar Interval Adjust if Done Early/Late | These options should be enabled to allow for
adjusting calendar based intervals. When the Calendar Interval
Adjust if done Early option is enabled, the next due date will always
follow the due date of the previous execution whenever the maintenance
has been performed too early. When the Calendar Interval Adjust if
done Late option is enabled, the next due date will always follow
the due date of the previous execution whenever the maintenance has
been performed too late. Note that the settings of both these options does not have any effect if the Based on Performed Date option is enabled. |
Based on Performed Date | When this option is enabled, all
subsequent work in the maintenance plan will be based on the sign off
date of the last performed maintenance (based on performed date) regardless
of the maintenance code. The duration in workshop for the last performed
maintenance, will also be taken into account (the calculation will be
like this: next due date = sign off date for the maintenance event +
duration in workshop of last performed "Based on Performed Date"
maintenance code + interval). In order to use performed date based maintenance,
calendar interval and/or recurring calendar interval must be indicated.
If this option is disabled, the next due date for the maintenance code will be based on the sign off date of the previous maintenance event and the interval in the plan of the same maintenance code. |
Days Forewarning | The number of days before the maintenance code is due that the maintenance action is to become available for planning. |
Duration Workshop/Duration Unit | The duration the equipment is expected to be in the workshop for the preventive maintenance action. |
Calculation Rule | The preferred calculation rule for the interval maintenance. The Inspection calculation rule is set by default. |
Cycle | The preferred cycle for the interval maintenance.
The cycle indicates whether the execution of the maintenance actions
for the maintenance code will trigger a zero setting of accumulations
in the operations record. Note that for parts that are not overhauled
the value must always be No Cycle. One of the maintenance codes can be defined as cycle, meaning that this is the ending point of the maintenance plan. When performing this maintenance code the value after overhaul of the serial will be reset to zero for all operational parameters, and the due calculation will start calculating the maintenance plan from the beginning. For every maintenance code in the plan, an appropriate calculation rule needs to be set. Only maintenance codes with calculation rule Overhaul can have the value Cycle. Normally, one of the maintenance codes in the maintenance plan will have the Overhaul calculation rule. When you are using recurrence it is not required to define a maintenance code as cycle. |
Mx Event Remark | Additional information on the interval maintenance can be entered as a maintenance event remark. When a maintenance event is created for the interval maintenance, this information will be transferred to the event. |
PMC ID/Revision | A post maintenance check definition can be connected to the maintenance code. When the corresponding maintenance event is finished, post maintenance checks will be generated to perform post maintenance activities for the interval maintenance. |
Each night a due calculation that generates maintenance actions for the plan is executed. This calculation is based on the maintenance plan for the maintenance program and operational frequency.
You cannot delete a maintenance code if it is connected to maintenance actions for the serial parts. For more information about the rules when registering maintenance plans, refer the online help file Interval Based Maintenance Program.
The Maintenance Plan/All Intervals tab can be used to view intervals based on operation parameters. This is useful when you want to compare the intervals for different operational parameters.
The Next Interval Maintenance tab, can be used to view information on the next interval maintenance assigned to serials defined with the serial part - maintenance group combination. All maintenance events in this tab are generated through the due calculation. Next maintenance indicates the next pending maintenance event. Planned maintenance events that are not yet pending are also included. Running maintenance events are not included.
On the maintenance plan, it is also possible to plan convenience tasks. A convenience task is identified by its nature to occur unpredictably but execute through a fixed setup. For more information, refer the activity Define Convenience Task.
