Enable Catch Unit
Explanation
For certain goods, a fixed conversion rate between the inventory unit of
measure and price unit of measure cannot be used because the conversion factor
varies too much. To overcome this, you can use a catch unit of measure as a
parallel unit to the inventory unit of measure. You will have to enter or update
quantities in both units when you are performing transactions for this part.
A correct price conversion will become attainable, based on the quantity (in
catch unit of measure) that is currently available in the system.
Note: You can perform the following steps later, e.g. when
the part is entered as an inventory part and sales part. But they should be
performed before the part is used:
- Enter the Catch UoM on the
Inventory Part/General
tab.
- The Negative On hand Allowed option
on the Inventory
Part/Supply and Demand Controls section must be disabled.
- If you are using a sales part, the price unit of measure on the
Sales Part page
must be made same as the catch unit code on the inventory part.
Prerequisites
To enter a Catch Unit Code on the
Inventory Part/General
section:
- The catch unit code you want to enter must exist as a unit of measure
in IFS/Application Services.
- The quantity in transit for the part must be zero at all the sites.
System Effects
- The part will become catch unit enabled. When receiving or issuing less
than the total quantity present at a location, you will have to give the
quantity in catch unit of measure as well.
- After a part has been catch unit enabled and transactions have taken
place for the part, you will not be allowed to change the catch unit code
to a different one. You can instead control catch unit, by enabling or disabling
the Catch UoM Enabled option in the
Part Catalog/General section.
