This activity transfers customer-owned stock from one customer to another. It is used when two or more customers have agreed among themselves to transfer ownership of their parts stored in your inventory. The result is a transfer of the ownership in inventory without any orders being created. The transfer of ownership can also be applied on a handling unit and will then have effect on the content of that handling unit.
Note: If the option Allow Multiple Owners per Inventory Part per Location on the Site/Warehouse Management/General tab is enabled, the entire quantity of the part need not be transferred.
The ownership type of the transferred parts in inventory and on the Part Serial page becomes Customer Owned for the indicated customer. In addition, the constant ownership is changed for all components belonging to the structures of serial or lot-tracked parts that are transferred.
When transferring ownership to a customer for which part acquisition values are handled, the initial estimate part acquisition values are created if there are no values already entered on the applicable acquisition value level (part, lot/batch, or serial) for the transferred part numbers. The part acquisition values for the previous owner are used if they are available on the required level of detail. If not, the inventory values that the parts would have if they were not externally-owned are used.
Inventory transaction history records are created without postings.
