Enter Part Data
Explanation
This activity is used when you want to create a part with no site, i.e.,
start to enter a part that, later on, will be registered as an inventory, purchase,
or sales part. This is also a way to reserve a part number for a part that will
be used in the future.
Depending on how the part will be used, you might have to perform one or
more of the optional steps as mentioned below. You can perform most of these
steps later , e.g., when the part is entered as an inventory part, but they
should be performed before the part is used.
Optional steps:
- Enable the Configurable option if the part should be a configurable
part, i.e., a part that is allowed to have configurations. This must be
performed before the inventory part (or purchase part, or sales part) is
created.
- Connect the part to a part main group either manually or by using the
List of Values.
- Enter any informational text for the part in the Info Text field.
- Enter a translated description in a specific language in the
Language Description, to be used in all part
types when a site is set to use part catalog description as description
for sales/purchase/inventory part. If the centralized part description is
enabled and a language description exists for the session language code
selected by the user, language description will be selected automatically
to be printed for the enabled site and part type.
Prerequisites
- The code for the unit of measure must have
been defined in IFS Cloud Base Setup, Unit Of Measure.
- If you are going to assign the part to a part
main group, the group must have been entered as basic data on the
Part Main Group page.
System Effects
- A part with no site will be created and can be used for design purposes
and for entering inventory, purchase, and sales parts at different sites.
- If the part is a configurable part, it will be possible to connect a
configuration family to the part.
- If a site is set to use part catalog description as description for
sales/purchase/inventory part, this part description will be displayed for
the specified site and part type.
- The net weight and the net volume will be saved under the part catalog
and will be displayed under the inventory part. If the UoM of the inventory
part is different to that of the part catalog, the appropriate conversion
will be done before displaying the values under the inventory part.
- When calculating the freight charge, weight or the volume will always
be multiplied by the entered freight factor.
