Assign Lot/Batch to Serial Numbers

Explanation

This activity is used when producing items that are both lot-tracked and serial-tracked, to assign the reserved lot/batches to reserved serial numbers.

To assign a lot/batch number to serial numbers, select the relevant serial number(s) on the Shop Order Tracked Structure/Assign Serials to Lot/Batch tab and click Assign to Lot/Batch. Select a value in the Lot/Batch No field.

Prerequisites

• This activity requires that the parts be defined as both inventory serial tracking parts and lot/batch tracking parts in the part catalog.
• The lot/batches and the serial numbers need to be reserved for production on a shop order and the tracked structure needs to be created.
• The tracked structure is built when reserving and issuing material, so you have to either reserve or issue material before linking lot/batch numbers and serial numbers.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system associates lot/batch numbers reserved for production in a shop order to one or more serial numbers reserved to the same shop order.
