Change Shop Order Earliest Start or Need Date
Explanation
Use this activity to change the earliest start or need date of the shop order.
- The Need Date field represents the date when the parts produced on the shop order should have been received and
available in inventory. If the part produced on the shop order has Plan
Manufacturing Supply on Due Date enabled, a time can be set as well. Changing need date on a backward scheduled order
will trigger a rescheduling of the order and calculate a new start and
finish date. Changing the need date for a forward scheduled order does not
have any impact on the scheduled start or finish dates.
- The Earliest Start Date field represents the earliest date
the shop order can start. If the part produced on the shop order has
Plan Manufacturing Supply on Due Date enabled, a time can be set as
well. Changing earliest start date on a forward scheduled order
will trigger a rescheduling of the order and calculate a new start and
finish date. Changing the earliest start date for a backward scheduled order
does not have any impact on the scheduled start or finish dates.
When a shop order pegged to a DOP order or customer order line is
rescheduled, the date change can be replicated based on the settings in
Site/Manufacturing page. If the date change is not replicated to
the DOP order, a time alarm is
generated for the date mismatch between the DOP order and the shop order. If
the DOP order has other supply orders, an error message appears, the due date
of the DOP order is not changed and a time alarm is generated.
A time alarm may be resolved by either right-clicking and then clicking
Update Dates From Supply or by updating the revised due date of the DOP
order.
To change the earliest start or need date from the Shop Order,
Shop Orders or Production Line Management/Shop Orders
pages, enter a new value in the Earliest Start Date or Need Date field.
To change the earliest start or need date from the Inventory Parts
Intraday Availability page, expand the line for the relevant part
and select the supply line from the shop order you want to update. Click
Edit Shop Order and enter a new value in the Earliest Start Date
or Need Date field.
Prerequisites
- A shop order must exist.
- To trigger a rescheduling when changing the need date of the shop order, it needs to be
backwards scheduled.
- To trigger a rescheduling when changing the earliest start date of the shop order, it needs to be
forward scheduled.
System Effects
- The shop order will be updated with the new earliest start or need date.
- If the need date is changed and the Scheduling Direction is set to Backwards Scheduling,
or the earliest start date is changed and the Scheduling Direction is set to
Forward Scheduling, the order is rescheduled. If the supply date of
a shop order pegged to a DOP order is changed
and the site is set to replicate changes, the Start Date and
Due Date fields of the DOP order are updated accordingly.
- If the order is pegged to a customer order line and the site is set
to replicate changes, the following columns in the customer order line will be updated accordingly:
Planned Delivery Date/Time, Planned Ship Date/Time, and
Planned Due Date.
