Merge Shop Order into Shop Order
Explanation
This activity is used to combine one or more shop orders into either a
new shop order, or into an existing shop order. This is a way to ensure that shop orders match their maximum lot size.
To merge shop order(s), select the relevant shop order(s), click Merge
and Splits and then Merge into Shop Order.
- If you want to merge one shop order into an existing shop order, select the required shop order number in
the Order No field.
- If you want to merge several shop orders into an existing shop
orders, select Merge into Existing Shop Order and select the required shop order number in
the Order No field.
- If you want to merge several shop orders into a new shop order, select
Merge into New Shop Order.
Prerequisites
- The shop orders being merged must be in the Planned or Released
status.
- The shop orders being merged must be for the same part and site.
- The shop orders being merged must be for the same structure or routing
revision and alternate.
- The shop order into which you are merging the other shop orders must
exist.
- If the parent part is manually pegged against a customer order line
or a shop order, the pegging has to be removed first.
System Effects
- If Merge into New Shop Order is selected, a new shop order is created
for the same part, revision and alternate as the merged orders, but with
their combined lot size.
- If Merge into Existing Shop Order is selected, the quantity
of the selected shop orders is added to the lot size of the
selected shop order. The manufacturing lead time for the new shop order increases as a result
of the new lot size. This affects the start and finish date of the shop
order.
- The original shop orders are deleted.
