Change Prime Part

Explanation

This activity is used to change the prime part of a structure position. When the prime part is changed, automatic changes will not be made to the dependencies of the structure position.

The parts that can go into a specific structure position must be defined as a position alternate or template alternate for the structure position, and all parts in this list will be candidates for the prime part. Note that template alternates defined on a higher level in the template structure are not visible in the List of Values in Part no field, but you can still enter these template alternates manually into the dialog.

Prerequisites

• If a part is to fit into a specific structure position and be set as a prime part, it must be defined as a position alternate or a template alternate.
• In addition, if a new prime part is introduced by a modification this structure change must have been entered on the modification (while it is in the Preliminary status). For more information, refer the Define a new Prime Part activity.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the prime part of a structure position is changed.
