Copy Template Structure
Explanation
This activity is used to copy data from one template structure to a template
structure that is in the Preliminary status. You can choose to keep the
structure positions belonging to the template from which data is to be copied
or generate new structure positions.
You can choose to copy all or preferred information to the template structure.
Following are the options you can copy from one template structure to another:
- Alternates per structure position
- Alternates per template
- Dependencies
- Connection to Functions/Function Structure
- Alternates per structure position introduced by modifications
- Alternates per template introduced by modifications
To perform this activity:
- Open the Manage Template
Structure page and search for the template structure to which
you want to copy information. Then select the Copy Template Structure
option to open the
Copy Template
Structure assistant.
- Enter appropriate information in the From Template Structure
section.
- If you want to keep the existing structure positions of the template
structure from which data is to be copied, enable the Keep existing Structure
Positions in new Structure option. Note: If this option is not
enabled structure dependencies cannot be copied.
- In the Copy Detailed Information section, enable the check options
that illustrate the information you want copied to the template structure
in the Preliminary status. Note: If you choose to
copy the position or alternates that are introduced from modifications,
enable the relevant check options which says 'introduced by modification'.
Note: You can also perform these steps by using the
New Template Part assistant.
Prerequisites
- A template structure to copy data from must exist.
- The top node of the template structure to copy data to must exist.
System Effects
- A new template structure will be created and set to the Preliminary
status, selected information will be copied to this structure.
- New structure positions will be generated if you have selected not to
keep the existing structure positions.
