Master Production Schedule Level 0

At Level 0 (zero), MS is run for a family of parts. Planning Level 0 means that you enter forecasts for the selected Level 0 part family. A Level 0 plan for a part is created per site. If it is a project master scheduled part, then it is for the site and for the PNG. A forecast can be a sales plan or another predicted value. Master scheduling (MS) is based on the forecast you enter and the actual backlog of orders. From this information, it creates a master schedule, a manufacturing plan. The calculation also suggests new orders and actions for existing orders. Only parts having planning method O, Level 0 Part, can be calculated in MS at Level 0. A Level 0 part is a form of a blow-through part and cannot have a inventory on hand or be ordered.

In addition, MS results in a gross demand, which forms the basis of material requirement planning (MRP). When the calculation is complete, you can study the plan for the Level 0 part. The results are grouped by period. A Level 0 part is a blow-through part and cannot be manufactured; the forecast is simply transferred to Level 1.

Rules for Master Scheduling Level 0

Level 0 parts are used to group parts for MS and are registered for the site. If the part is handled by project MS then it is registered for both the site and the PNG. For example, a main product with several variants that can be planned easily on a long-term basis might be grouped under one Level 0 part.

In the structure of a Level 0 part, you can either enter the end products directly or use master schedule blow-through parts as an intermediate step between Level 0 and the end product. Blow-through parts in the structure of a Level 0 part have planning method T. This is a special type of blow-through part designed to be used with Master Scheduling. A T part cannot have a balance on hand and cannot be ordered. A T part can occur on one or more levels.

Level 0 parts are broken down only for gross demand; existing supplies are not considered. This is applicable only in Level 1 planning.
