This activity is used to manually enter the structure of a configured part, i.e., the components that can be potentially used in the manufacture of this part. Components added to the structure are assumed to be included in the production of the part unless a back office rule condition specifies otherwise. (See About Back Office Configuration Rules).
Use the Configuration Structure or Manufacturing Structure page and its tabs to enter and maintain product structures for configurable parts. Configuration structures work in the same way as product structures, with the exception that configuration rules in the form of conditions and actions can be attached to elements of the structure. Because you work with parts in the inventory part register, you must have entered the parts, inventory locations, and all related data in IFS/Inventory. The information you enter here becomes the default when you work with structures in shop orders.
Use the Components tab to record details about components which are used to produce the parent part, the By-Products tab to record details about sub components which are produced while creating the parent part, the By-Product Cost Distribution tab to view and define distribution of component material costs among by-products and primary product for the structure alternate, and the Multi Level Structure tab to study the structure of a part, including the components of components. The structures are broken down from the parent part to the absolute lowest level in all structures of the same structure type.
As a result of this activity, the system creates a structure alternate in status Tentative connecting the components to a parent configured part.
