Create Planning Structure

Explanation

This activity is used to manually enter the structure of a part, i.e., the components comprising the parent part. The planning structures represent structures of product families used by two-level master scheduling.

Use the Planning Structure or Manufacturing Structure page to enter and maintain planning structures for parent parts of planning method O or T; such structures do not have serial pointers. You can define a structure here where the line items have different sites than the parent parts.

Use the Components tab to build planning structures by specifying which components go into a parent part. Use the Where Used tab to view all parent parts in which the part you specify is a component or a by-product. This also allows you to determine the places where certain materials are needed. Use the Multi Level Structure tab to study the planning structure for a part. The structure, including the components of components, is broken down from the parent part to the absolute lowest level in all structures of the same structure type. You can study the components of a parent part per revision, since the components can differ per revision.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that the parent part and the components must have been defined on the Inventory Part page and the parent part must have a planning method of either O or T.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a planning structure in status Tentative is created connecting components to a parent part.
