Discrepancy codes represent the types of problems, deficiencies, or discrepancies that can be identified during a disposition inspection. Discrepancy codes can be either generic or part-specific. For example, discrepancy codes could be created for cosmetic flaws, structural flaws, mechanical flaws, etc.
Discrepancy codes can be mapped to fault codes used in Fleet and Asset Management. One discrepancy code can be mapped to only one fault code. When the discrepancy and fault codes are connected, a discrepancy reported on a shop order will also generate a fault history record for the corresponding fault in the current serial.
Discrepancy codes must be associated with inventory parts before they can be used.
