Define Planned Netting Group
Explanation
This activity is used to define a planned netting group. A planned netting
group (PNG) is a collection of project activities (PPSA).
PNG is beneficial
in the multi project material requirement planning (MPMRP) process as it allows
you to plan material transfers for a group of project activities. The transfer
process will be handled by material transfer requisition (MTR). To control the
sequence in which the MPMRP reviews the available material from each
PPSA within each PNG, a priority number is assigned. You can exclude certain
parts from a specific PPSA. The excluded parts will not be considered in MPMRP
calculation.
For a project, you can define a PNG using either the
Planned Netting Group
page or the Create Project Planned Netting
Group dialog. It can also be created automatically if the Create
Project PNG Automatically option in the PNG Default
Settings page is enabled.
Note: It is not possible to connect a PPSA to more than one PNG within
the same site. You can connect one PNG to another PNG. However both PNGs should
be within the same site.
Prerequisites
This activity has the following prerequisites:
- To create a PNG, the planner must have access to at least one site.
- To create a project PNG, the Material Allocation needs
to be Within Project.
System Effects
As a result of this activity
- A PNG will be created.
- The PPSAs will be connected to PNGs.
- It is possible to connect PNGs together.
- Within PNG In/Out option controls the part transfer between PPSAs
within the same PNG.
Possible values are :
Allowed Automatic:
The transfer allowed with automatic MTR approval
Allowed Manual:
The transfer allowed. MTR should be approved manually.
Not Allowed:
The transfer is not allowed.
Note: If Allowed Manual
is selected in the within PNG transfer section or between PNG transfer
section, each planner in granting PPSA and receiving PPSA has to approve
the MTR before it is executed.
- Borrow/Payback option determines the transfer type.
Possible
values are: Not Required and Required. If it is Not Required,
the transfer type is Transfer. If it is Required, the transfer
type is Borrow or Payback.
- Between PNG IN option controls the incoming part transfer from
another PPSA in a different PNG.
- Between PNG OUT option controls the outgoing part transfer to
another PPSA in different PNG.
