Each control plan template consists of two levels: a header and one or more
lines. This activity is used to create new control plan template lines. A
control plan template line for manufacturing specifies how a part is going
to be controlled or tested when doing a particular routing operation
belonging to the routing entered in the control plan header. A control plan
template line for purchasing specifies how a purchased part is going to be
controlled or tested when purchased from the supplier entered in the control
plan header. A control plan template line for inventory specifies how a part
is going to be controlled or tested when performing analysis in inventory.
For each control plan template line, the sample size has to be calculated
when an analysis is created. To calculate the sample size, an inspection code
has to be defined. The inspection type specifies whether the sample size is
based on a fixed quantity or a sample percentage of the order size. It is not
possible to use Percentage as the inspection type for parts that are used as
a production schedule parts.
To create a new control plan template line click the new command on the Control Plan Template Lines tab and enter information about the template line. To make it mandatory to attach a media item to the result, enable Media Required. In the Data Type field select Attributes, Variables or Categorical. If the data type is set to Categorical, enter a category ID or use the List of Values (LOV) picker to choose from the available category IDs in the Category field. If the data type is set to Variable, enter information about the tolerance limits in the Outer Min, Inner Min, Nominal Value, Inner Max and Outer Max fields. The nominal value is required, together with either the combination Inner Min/Inner Max or Outer Min/Outer Max. Finally click Save.
Note: If the control plan template contains one or more control plan lines with data type is set to Categorical, a value in the Category Entry Type field must have been selected in the header section to be able to activate the template.
As a result of this activity, one or more control plan template lines are created. The inspection code selected in the control plan line, will control the sample size for each data point when the analyses are created. The inspection code selected in the control plan line will control the sample size for each data point when the analyses are created.
