Add or Modify Packing Proposals

Explanation

A Packing Proposal is a set of rules that is used when running packing optimization for shipment lines. Enter what Handling Unit Types should be considered and how big a part of them that should be possible to utilize as a maximum. A handling unit type that is missing volume or weight will not be used in the packing proposal. Missing dimensions will not exclude the handling unit type, the dimension check for parts will however not be run.

Max Volume Utilization (%) can be set and it's used to calculate Operative Volume Utilization since a 100% volume utilization is unlikely to achieve.

Packing Methods should be enabled according to desired outcome:

When method By Source Object is enabled, you can also configure if and how to mix orders in shipment handling units by choosing a setting in the Allow Mix Source Object.

It is important to configure at least one sort order. The algorithm packs most efficiently if sorted by Reservation Line Volume but it is possible to sort by Route Order as well if it is more important to minimize travelling while picking. However, in the latter case it's recommended to set Reservation Line Volume as Priority 2 as well.

System Effects

It will be possible to connect the Packing Proposal to a Shipment Type and/or a Shipment. When running the Packing Proposal for a shipment, the reserved parts will be attached to one or more shipment handling units, optimized by the rules from the Packing Proposal chosen.
