If you are performing internal maintenance, i.e., there is neither an external customer nor a service contract connected to the work order, you then create a Fault Report. A fault report is used to register information on a defect object that needs to be repaired. You start by entering a brief description of the fault that is to be corrected, and the maintenance organization that will perform the work. It is optional if you want to enter information on how the fault was discovered, and the symptoms that the fault shows. You can also enter a more extensive description of the fault, or some instructions to the fault report receiver. When you save the fault report, a work order with a unique number is created. When the fault report is finished so far, you choose the prepare work order operation, where the work on the work order will be further prepared by creating a work task with information on for instance the material, the budget, and the resource groups that you need to perform the work.
The information in the fault report can automatically be sent via an e-mail to the technician through the event server.
When you want to create a fault report on an object within the company but do not have an accessible object ID, you can create this without the object ID. Thus you have to give a detailed description of the object, and with this information, a fault report can be created. When later preparing the fault report, you can then add the object ID.
The fault report is used in IFS/Maintenance.
