Check and Update Accounting
Explanation
Use this activity to check and update the existing postings on a work task
transaction. This can be useful if the posting information has changed (for
example if the object has changed on the work task) and you want to update the
transaction with the latest posting information. It can also be used to update
the transactions postings from status Error to Valid after work
has been done to correct the error. The postings are updated in the
Work Task Transaction/Accounting
tab. The function can be found on the work task, work task transaction and
on the cost line.
When this activity is executed, existing posting information on the work task
transaction is compared with the current setup in posting control, the work task
pre-posting and other information on the work task, to determine the current
posting information. Depending on the status of the transaction, the postings
will be updated, or alternatively reposted:
- If the postings have not been transferred to finance:
- If the status of exiting work task transaction is Authorized,
Reposted or Overtaken and the postings are in status Valid or Error, then the postings are updated.
- If the postings have been transferred to finance:
- If the status of existing work task transaction is
Transferred and postings are in status Transferred,
then the work task transaction is reposted and the status is updated to
Reposted.
- If the work task transaction has a WIP cost code, and the WIP reversal condition has been met
(or alternatively WIP has been manually released), the work task transaction is reposted
to its final account.
System Effects
- As a result of this activity, the selected work task transactions
postings or all work task postings connected to a work task are updated or
reposted. The result can be viewed in Work Task Transaction/Accounting tab.
- If the transaction is reposted, new posting lines are created in status
Valid or Error and must be transferred to finance for the
changes to take effect.
