Working/Analyzing seasonalit are done in 2 different places Seasonal Graph or the Seasonal Table/Details, we will start by looking at the Seasonal Graph.
Use this window to create, view, or edit existing season profiles. It can also be used to determine if a part has a seasonal component. In the graph we display the adjusted demand for the current part or group. The demand is split into years and displayed as bars beside each other. This gives the user a powerful tool to determine if a parts fluctuation are random or follow seasons. The number of x axis marks is equal to the number og periods in a year, defined by the period version used by the demnad plan server.
The Seasonal profile show in the graph and table/detail is determined by the seasonal profile selected from the Seasonal Profile selection field in the Staus bar. The default seasonl profile selected is the same as the sasonal profile set on the part selected.
After changes have been made to the season indexes, they must be normalized, i.e., recalculated so that their sum becomes equal to the number of periods in a year. A detailed description can be found in About Season Indexes.
Element | Color | Read/Write | Description |
System profile | Write | This is the season profile used in the forecast models. It can be edited freely.
Season profile | Read-only | A mathematical season profile calculated by the computer, based on the current adjusted demand found on the current part or group. This profile gives the least error on the current part or group.
Adjusted demand | Read-only | The adjusted demand for the same periods historicaly over the year is shown as indicidual bars, different years can be turned on and off by clicking in corresponding bar in the chart legend. |
The season indexes may be altered directly in the graph by dragging the period values. If the Notes function is activated, the system presents the value of the period elements as they are dragged. Advanced graphical adjustments are possible if you use the Ctrl and Shift buttons when dragging.
Key | Name | Description |
- | Single period | Individual index values may be raised or lowered to a new value directly in the graph. |
Shift | Straight line | Drag an index value to the the right while holding the Shift key to arrange the elements in a straight line from the initial position of the period to where it was finally dropped. |
Ctrl | Level | Drag any period value while holding down the Ctrl key to raise or lower all periods. |
Shift+Ctrl | Free Draw | Draw a free curve while holding the Shift+Ctrl keys to arrange the periods along that curve. |
Use this window to create, view, or edit existing season profiles in tabular form. Table values may be entered manually, copied from the system profile, or copied and pasted from another table or spreadsheet.
The table contains:
Rows: | One row for each period of the year, labeled from 1 to the number of periods defined for a year. |
Adjusted: | The value for the seasonal index for that period. |
System: | The value for the system seasonal index for that period. |
YYYY: | The adjusted demand of the currently selected part/group, year by year. The heading indicates which year demand the column includes. |
