Resource groups can be enabled for use in different processes:
When creating a resource group the usage of the resources are defined by selecting; Use in Manufacturing, Use in Maintenance, Use in Projects and/or Use in Service. A resource can be used in all areas if required.
When creating the resource group using the assistant, resource group details can be added optionally such as: connection to resource structure, general and project related costs, resource capacity and qualifications. If the resource group is used in Maintenance, maintenance information can also be added using the assistant, whereas if used in Manufacturing labor class and machine information can be added. If it's a tool/equipment group used in Maintenance, tool tracking can be enabled for the tool/equipment group by selecting the tool tracking option Track Check Out/In using the assistant.

For a Person group used in Manufacturing, a labor class is created and can be further detailed. For a Machine group used in Manufacturing, a work center is created and can also be further defined.
