Employee qualification for manufacturing validates the qualifications defined for an operation, with the qualifications acquired by the employee who reports a particular operation. This functionality is limited to the operation reporting in employee reporting mode on the shop floor workbench. The total employee qualification requirement and the availability of a particular employee qualification profile in a site can be viewed using the Employee Qualification Demand page.
Qualification basic data is defined in IFS/Human Capital Management. Therefore it is a prerequisite to have IFS/Human Capital Management installed, in order to use the employee qualification for manufacturing functionality.
Only the competencies and certificates are considered under the scope of employee qualification for manufacturing.
In addition to that, the option selected in the Consider Qualification Profile drop-down, on the Site/Manufacturing page, decides whether or not to validate the employee qualification for manufacturing. It also defines how the validation takes place as specified in the table below.
Consider Qualification Profile | Action |
Not Considered | Employee qualification profiles defined on operations will not be tested against the employee's qualifications. |
Allow to Report with Warning | A warning message will be displayed if the reporting employee does not have the required qualification. |
Mandatory | Employee qualification profiles defined on operations will be tested against the employee's qualifications. Therefore, it is mandatory for an employee to have the required qualifications. |
Each manufacturing operation can have one employee setup qualification profile and a qualification profile to run the operation. Each manufacturing operation guideline of type Subtask can have one qualification profile to sign off and one qualification profile to sign off inspection. These profiles can be defined and/or viewed on operations that exist in clients for the following IFS components.

The following actions performed on the shop floor workbench will trigger the employee qualification validation.
All the employees' qualifications are checked against the qualification requirement when more than one employee exists to perform an operation.
Reporting previous operations when approving an operation is possible only
if there are no qualification profiles defined in any previous operation where
you need to report labor hours.
An employee is considered as competent if all of the following conditions are met.
Employee hours available for each of the manufacturing qualification profile can be calculated using Calculate Labor Capacity for Manufacturing. Calculations can be done for a single site or to all user allowed sites. It is also possible to run the calculation as a scheduled task. You can use Calculation End Date field to define up to which date the calculation has to be made from today. If that field is left blank, then the last date for an operation that exist with the employee qualification requirement is considered as the end date of the calculation. Employee absences will be subtracted when calculating employee availability.
Note: Employee time allocations already confirmed to work order, trainings & projects will not be subtracted when calculating the employee availability.
