Adjust Shop Order Need Date to Demand
Explanation
Use this activity to automatically update the need date of a shop order
to the date/time when the projected quantity goes negative for the shop
order part. If the part has Plan Manufacturing Supply on Due Date
enabled, the need date will be updated considering both the date and time of
the earliest demand where the projected quantity goes negative, else only
the date is considered.
If the shop order has pegged demands, only those will be considered when
calculating the projected quantity. If the shop order is not pegged to any
demand, demands without peggings are considered.
The calculation will also consider below parameters set on the
Inventory Parts Intraday Availability page:
- Include Only Firm Supplies - Only supplies classified as firm
are considered. Firm supplies are shop orders, purchase order lines and similar. Non-firm
supplies such as purchase and shop order requisitions are ignored.
- Include Only Firm Demands - Only demands classified as firm
are considered. Firm demands are customer order lines, shop order
material lines and similar. Non-firm demands such as MRP planned demands
are ignored.
- Include Usable Qty in Balance - The usable on hand quantity
in stock is considered as the starting balance when calculating the
projected quantity, if cleared, the logic will use 0 as the starting
balance.
To adjust the need date of a shop order to demand, first open the
Inventory Parts Intraday Availability page and expand the line for
the relevant part. Then select the shop order to adjust and click Adjust Need
Date to Demand.
Prerequisites
- An open shop order with Demand Source set to Invent Order
must exist.
- A projected negative balance for the shop order part must exist
prior to the shop order due date/time given the above mentioned
parameters controlling the balance calculation.
System Effects
- The shop order will be updated with a new earlier need date. If the part has
Plan Manufacturing Supply on Due Date enabled, also need date
time will be updated.
- The Scheduling Direction of the shop order will be set to Backwards Scheduling,
and the order will be rescheduled with a new start and finish date that
meets the new need date.
