Specify Scheduling Optimization Constraints
Explanation
Use this activity to specify scheduling optimization constraints which will be used by manufacturing scheduling and
optimization solution when creating a shop order finite schedule. This task is to be performed
by a manufacturing planner or equivalent person. These parameters are
functional parameters which will define the nature of the final finite
schedule. Through these parameters organizations can decide what sort of
optimizations that they would like to active.
- Planner can decide whether the shop order schedule should be
optimized based on there parent project activity times or not ( for
project connected shop orders)
- Planners can decide whether the shop order operations should be
scheduled as close as possible to each other so that set up times
defined in the set up matrix based on product characteristics incur
minimum set up time for the schedule
Prerequisites
- MSO solution uses IFS Planning Scheduling and Optimization ( PSO) solution
as its scheduling engine. Therefore it is mandatory to have a online PSO
scheduling server running to execute this activity.
- Site must be defined and the user is allowed to use the site
System Effects
- The finite schedule created by the MSO solution will be based on the
scheduling and optimization constraints
- The parameters will affect MSO automatic scheduling
- The parameter will affect MSO static scheduling
- The parameters will affect MSO static selective scheduling
- Manufacturing schedule optimization goals will be affected by these
parameters
- It is not recommended to change these parameters frequently as it
will create a very nervous schedule
