Create Shop Order for Design Object
Explanation
This activity is used to create a shop order for a design object that is
planned to be prefabricated and assembled. For example a pipe system with several
assembly parts or spools, might require the prefabrication of spools individually
and to receive the spools to inventory in order to carry out the assembling
process. Hence each spool here needs a separate shop order to be created for
it.
This activity can be performed on
Design Object
Work Preparation page by accessing Create Shop Order
command. When creating a shop order for a design object, it is required to enter
mandatory information such as the quantity required to register the shop order.
Optionally, it is possible to select the required fabrication type. The resulting
shop order will then only consist of the materials that are of the specified
fabrication type. In doing so, it is possible to create multiple shop orders
on the same design object with different prefabrication and material requirements/types.
The selection of the routing template, another optional selection, will determine
the registration of the shop order operations. Based on the project connected
to the design object, the Earliest Start Date and Need Date of the shop order
will be set to the Early Start and Finish Dates of the connected activity respectively.
The created shop order will always be project connected. One or more than one
design objects can also be selected for creating shop orders resulting in multiple
shop orders, one for each of the selected design objects.
Prerequisites
- The design object should have a valid project connection.
- The design object should be connected to a design part, which is an
inventory part of the Manufactured part type.
- If the design object has additional parts defined, the fabrication quantity
of each additional part should be one or more, to ensure that the additional
part will be inherited as material demand for the shop order.
System Effects
- A shop order is created for the design object, and can be viewed in
the Shop Orders
tab on the
Design Object Work Preparation page. The shop order is created with
the following details:
- The value of the Demand Source field in the
Details tab of the
Shop Order page, receives
the value Design Object.
- The Part No, Description, Site, Scheduling
Direction, Need Date and Lot Size
(Quantity) fields in the header of the Shop Order
page, receive the values on the design object and those that you entered
on the corresponding fields when creating the shop order for the design
object.
- The value of the Design Object ID and Description
fields is displayed in the Notes section
on the created shop order.
- The Component Part, Part Description
and Quantity Per Assembly (Quantity) fields
in the Material
tab of the Shop Order
page, receive the values on the design object and those that you entered
on the corresponding fields when creating the shop order for the design
object.
- The resulting shop order will consist of the materials (additional parts
of the design object) that were of the selected fabrication type and where
the fabrication quantity of the additional part was one or more.
- The shop order will inherit the project connection of the design object.
